The HIE Help Center is an informational website for the parents, caregivers, and loved ones of children with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) and related disabilities. The site is sponsored by Reiter & Walsh ABC Law Centers, a firm that focuses on assisting families whose children have HIE or other serious birth injuries resulting from medical malpractice. The idea for the site came when the legal and medical team at ABC Law Centers noticed a common thread in the narratives of their clients – that it was very difficult and time-consuming to find information about their children’s diagnoses outside of a few select websites, which often required parents to make accounts or provide sensitive information they weren’t comfortable handing over. The HIE Help Center aims to be a useful one-stop information resource to help families navigate disability resources without having to spend hours on dozens of different websites.
We hope to provide information and support to parents whose children have had a hypoxic-ischemic diagnosis and to provide resources in an informative, compassionate, and supportive manner.
